The One Coat You Need for an All-Weather Winter
Cold winter weather can present really challenging decisions on what is the best coat to wear for the conditions of the day. Do I wear my puffer down, trench, wool or warm-fur lined bomber coat??? I’ve been through many winters and weather conditions to know what the ultimate best winter coat for an all-weather winter. If there is a blizzard, cold rain, sleet, slushy or just plain-old freezing, a super warm parka is really your only best option. Many think it’s a long down puffer coat, but puffer coats will not protect against rain and wind. The down feathers are great for cold winter days but will flatten when it rains or any heavy moisture. I usually save my puffer coats for cold temperature days with no snow or rain.
I love how parka coats have become more stylish and fashion forward. Long are the days when parkas were made like an oversize ski jacket. Now they are fashionable with cinched waists, fur-lined hoods and gold details. What makes a parka coat such a great all-weather winter coat is the water-resistant fabric, many pockets and a combination of down and synthetic-filled feathers. The synthetic fill can uphold wet conditions and keep you warmer than matted down down feathers. I wore my super warm parka the entire time in Washington DC because the weather called for cold, wet rainy days.
